         Assessing Current Reality - The most important statistics concern the number of people joining the church on a profession of faith, the net
         growth or decline each year, and the average weekly attendance at worship, SS and other Small groups. Another important piece of info
         concerns the numbers of members who are considered inactive or marginal.

         Developing a Vision - Essential to growth and church wide
         Establishing a Plan - Needs to focus on welcoming, incorporating persons into the congregation and equipping and sending them out as
        disciples of Jesus Christ

The meeting began at 7:00 with prayer. JT, Kathy and Barb were in attendance. Minutes written by Barbara Woods.

Old Business: Kathy Wilson First a huge thanks to Kathy for chairing this committee in the past few years and for continuing to stay on it with us. We still need to get the maps of inside the building framed and put around the building. Mike Poor got the floor plan for us.

New Business:

We don’t believe a reminder went out from the office about this meeting.

Guidelines Review This is a pamphlet given to us by the church to organize. It is on the library resource shelve if you want to look at it. We talked reviewing this process as we meet this year to make sure we are doing what we should be doing to remain and become more fully a growing church in the community.

Developing Vision – Essential to growth JT suggested that the MAPS committee may need to do this together again as we did
soon after he arrived.

Establishing a Plan – Needs to focus on welcoming, incorporating persons into the congregation & equipping and sending them out as
disciples of Jesus Christ.

What we have done

· Methodist class quarterly We offered this three times last year which seemed to be just right. The first one will start Feb. 21^st at 4:00. We will mail invitations to 3rd time or more visitors. Our committee will need to provide childcare. Let me know if you are available to do one or more Sundays.

· Muggers Kathy has the active list of folks visiting 1^st time visitors. Roger is working on an updated tri fold informational sheet to go out to these visitors.

· Greeters Roger Holder gets these people.

· Ask Me Kathy Wilson has this sign up sheet. We really need to work at getting at least the Welcome Center covered every Sunday morning. People do wander in asking questions about the services. See Kathy if you or someone else can sign up.

· Name tags Kathy will continue to have Brad Brown make these as needed. We probably need to do another name tag Sunday soon.

· Signs Please look around the building to see if we need more signs to make sure everyone feels welcome and can find things. We want to talk with the Trustees about getting a pretty bulletin board for the Welcome Center to keep all the signs from hanging on the doors. We feel this area needs to stay as welcoming as possible. We are still thinking about a sign in the air lock in the Welcome Center for some kind of sign. Will bring ideas to the next meeting.

· Third time visitors We are unsure how this is being done. Barb will talk to Tisha and find out.

· Family Movie Night We tried this once last year during the H1N1 out break. We would like to try it again after Upward. JT suggested we talk to Beth Waggoner to coordinate.

· Sunday School Selections Several years ago we tried this. Will talk to Wayne Beck again about doing during the summer months. Maybe even doing cross generational studies. The thought behind this is to make SS more inviting.

· Letters to unchurched Upward families Barb has the list, the letter and will talk to Tisha about the mailing. Hope to get this done this week

3. Scheduled Meeting Dates: Third Monday at 7:00 in Jan, March, May, July, Sept & Nov. Next meeting is March15th.
