Child Care Committee
8/4/09
Attendees: Justine Handley, Robin Lewis, Mandy Shaw, Amy Johnson, Beth Waggoner
Meeting was open with prayer by Justine Handley.
Note from Shirley Emsweller was read and discussed. Robin & Mandy have told staff they are not to use Prayer Room for children’s nap time. They will monitor to make sure the room is free at all times for those wishing a quite place for prayer.
Robin reported that they anticipate adding a room in October. Children will be moving up to 2 year old room and this will allow her to accept children less then 1 year currently on the waiting list. Fall Pre School enrollment is full and there only two remaining vacancies for Pre Kindergarten. Fifteen new children were accepted from Little Bear child care, most of them were school age and there was no staff increase. Since Child Care had two teachers where only one was required, they were able to accept more children without a staff increase.
Beth Waggoner (who drives bus for South Hancock School Corp.) reported that bus routes have been change and suggested Robin contact the school to give the exact number of students Child Care has that attend New Palestine Elementary and will need transportation. Robin will contact the school.
The August 9th Administrative Board meeting was discussed. Justine will report of the statistics of child care and Robin will report on programming.
