U.M.W. Meeting Minutes
7-14-2009
In attendance: Ethel Cramer, Bonnie Petrow, Nancy Collier, Barb Woods, Justine Handley, Judi Walsh, Marcia Eades, Beth Waggoner, Mary Lynn Reese
Ethel brought the meeting to order. She lit the Christ candle, also with prayers.
Marcia Eades read through the Response Moments – Hungry for Justice. It was about sharing with others, our food, our fellowship, our Christianity. Food & Faith! We should always share with others. We have many rituals that involve food. John Wesley called it “Means of Grace”. The Lord’s Supper- Communion. In so many countries, people cannot afford food for themselves or their families. Prices have more than doubled over the past year! Jesus feed 5,000 with two loaves of bread and 5 fish. Everyone was full! You give them something to eat. This was a miracle! Give them something to eat! Very simple! But society makes it very hard to get the food. The mission I have is to help others get their food. We all need to be responsible for this. Support Farmer’s Market!
Marcia Eades did devotions as Jackie was absent. “The Joy of Good Friends” Thank God for all those who make your life “richer”. Friends nourish us- just by being there. God paints outside the lines. A friend loves at all times! Two are better than one falls down the other can help him up.
Women of Faith is in August. Beth has sold 13 tickets, 10 more not paid, 2 not spoken for. The tickets are now $79.00. Please pay Beth right away.
Bonnie Petrow reported on our treasury. She brought as new business: to sell our cutlery at the Lion’s Club. The fee is $70.00. Nancy Collier suggested we ask the UMM to go half.

Friday, September 11, 4-9pm
Saturday, September 12, 12-9pm
The price is going up August 1st. Bonnie says she can get these in about a week from ordering. It would be nice to have flyers made up to be handed out about all of our Fall activities. We will look into this further.
The flower Sale earned us about $400.00. It was fairly easy.
Since we started the cutlery, we have sold $926.00!
Justine made the notion to sell the cutlery at the Lion’s Club. Barb seconded that notion. It was passed.
Our pledge to mission is $1,500.00.

Ethel said Tuesday, August 11 is the program planning meeting.
School of Christian Mission: Barb is going on the 18th. Justine is going on the 19th – 22nd.
Minutes sincerely submitted by: Mary Lynn Reese, Secretary of UMW
Ethel lit the Christ candle and gave our prayer. She gave a prayer for the Middle East and others.
Marcia Eades gave the Response Moment. It was quite touching. It was about a lady in Africa who was HIV positive. She makes beautiful boxes. She was afraid if she told anyone in her community, no one would buy from her and she would be shamed. No one would come around her. She is now on medication and shows no outward signs of HIV. This is so sad.
We had 16 people present. Ethel, myself, Marcia, Erelene, Bonnie, Beth, Judy, Jean, Barb W., Nancy C., Kathy W., Shirley, Pam, Justine and several others.
Mary Lynn read from the Prayer Calendar about Christmas on Macedonia.
Erelene Brown gave us devotions about life and landscaping your life. It all depends on whose hands it is in. She read this and it was beautiful! She read a beautiful poem.
Ethel read a list of all our projects. We need to host the Indy East meeting on March 21. March also is the Easter Basket sale. Soups and salad are all we need. Pam volunteered Katherine Circle for food for about 60. This is on a Saturday. Barb Woods is in charge of the Easter Baskets that will be sold on March 29. They will be made on March 23.
Graduation Breakfast will be taken care of by Katherine Circle.
August Potato Bake on August 16 will be taken care of by Barb Woods and Beth.
November 22 Bake Sale and Crafts (Sunday before Thanksgiving). Ethel and I will do & large sign.
Cheese balls will be made on Mon. Nov.2
Beth talked about Prayers and Self Denial at our retreat, mostly poor and all others who do not have technology. She needs 5 people to do a retreat. She will be calling people.
We need to have a “Spring Tea” to invite younger women to join us.
UPWARD breakfasts for 8 weeks Saturday morning from 8-10am. January 24, 31, Febraury 14, need at least 8-10 women. Ethel will be in charge of it.
Barb Woods prayed.
